Scales Explained

Understanding Diecast Car Scales

A diecast car's scale refers to its size in proportion to the real vehicle. The most common scales are 1:18, 1:24, 1:32, 1:43, and 1:64. This guide explains what these numbers mean and how they affect the model’s size and details.

Common Diecast Car Scales

1:18 Scale – Large, highly detailed models, typically around 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) long. Often have opening doors, hoods, and trunks.

1:24 Scale – Mid-sized models, about 7-8 inches (18-20 cm) long. Good balance between detail and affordability.

1:32 Scale – Smaller than 1:24 but still detailed. Around 5-6 inches (13-15 cm) long.

1:43 Scale – One of the most popular collector scales. Typically 3.5-4.5 inches (9-11 cm) long.

1:64 Scale – The classic Hot Wheels and Matchbox size, around 2.5-3 inches (6-8 cm) long. Ideal for casual collectors and kids.

How to Choose the Right Scale?

  • Collectors – Prefer 1:18 and 1:24 for display and detail.
  • Casual Buyers – 1:43 and 1:64 are budget-friendly and easier to store.
  • Kids & Play – 1:64 is durable and fun to play with.
